Obesity and Eating Disorders

Obesity is an excessive accumulation of body fat such that individuals are over 20 percent heavier than their ideal body weight. Obesity is a common eating disorder associated with adolescence. "Overweight" is defined as having any excess weight outside of the ideal range. The teen obesity study is showing how to prevent that. The blame is moving away from to teens and on to parents. The study shows that parents who encourage their kids to eat healthier food from a young age lead a healthier life with better eating habits than kids without and also less likely to develop an eating disorder or diabetes. Parents should discourage their kids from dieting, skipping meals, or taking diet pills. Over the past 30 years the rate of child obesity has more than doubled and teen obesity has gone up 4 times
